  1. “I think it’s really helpful, personally. Ever since I started using primers I haven’t stopped since and I think certain primers can really help makeup go on better and longevity. But if not using primers works for you, I wouldn’t worry about it. I’d still try one though, it never hurts to try a sample or something! For oily skin, you can try a mattifying or smoothing primer. MUFE makes great ones.”

  2. “I am a makeup junkie and never really used primer, I always thought it was a gimmicky thing to sell more products, then I received samples of Lancome La Base Pro and Smashbox photo finish and I can tell you they do make a difference. My foundation looks less streaky, more airbrushed and it helps keep the oil at bay. I also love Hourglass mineral veil.”

  4. Please use sunscreen. I’m 38 and was just treated for pre cancerous lesions on my nose from not using sunscreen.”

  5. It depends on the foundation formula for me. I have normal/combo skin/oily T zone, and with my liquid foundation (Armani Luminous Silk) I use primer, with my cream foundation (Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick), I don’t.
I’ve found that with the foundation stick, using primer adds to the cream moving around more on my skin, but that with a liquid foundation, the extra barrier helps it melt into my skin better.”
